Architectural Photography for Albi Homes Calgary - Part 1 of 6
Directing where you should walk using light in photography
A technique I often will talk about when lecturing on architectural photography is how you can use lighting to walk a viewer through a scene. In this particular image I've used grids to highlight textures and a path to "walk" with your eye. It starts on the wood floor moves over to the couch, then to the fireplace and finally up the stairs. That way a viewer feels like they are being guided through the living room photo rather than evenly illuminating the entire room. It's a stylistic approach to lighting interiors. Albi Homes seemed to like this approach to architectural photography, hence winning the job.
